When I first moved to Thunder Bay as a student, I’ll admit I had some reservations about the city’s reputation for crime.
However, those concerns quickly faded as I experienced firsthand the tight-knit and friendly community in this vibrant city.
During my first two weeks in Thunder Bay, I encountered countless friendly faces and felt an overwhelming sense of safety.
Whether it was the cashier at No Frills who warmly greeted me every time I went to the store, the helpful stranger who offered directions when I was lost, or the kind neighbors at Dawson Properties who made an effort to chat with me, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and hospitality of the people.
One group that stood out, in particular, was the faculty at Confederation College. They were knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects and took a genuine interest in their students’ well-being.
From providing academic support to offering guidance on adjusting to college life, their sweet and caring nature made me feel at ease and reassured me that I had made the right choice in choosing Thunder Bay as my educational destination.
These first impressions left a lasting impact on me and instilled a sense of confidence in my safety and well-being throughout my time in Thunder Bay.
Which areas are safe in Thunder Bay

As someone who has lived in two areas, Edward Street and Oliver Road, I can assure you that both of these neighborhoods are pretty safe.
